I didn't understand that as a kid ("Just let me play two player simultaneous Double Dragon, Nintendo!!! GAH!" ) but I understand it now. The arcade games were meant to give you limited excitement for a quarter, the home games were designed to give you a few months. That's why I prefer my old school NES games over a lot of the arcade versions of those games (Contra comes to mind, Double Dragon). My biggest obstacle with MAME (and home arcade machines) is that generally, the games require QUARTERS.lol, and as a kid, we all know what that was like (unless you were a rich kid, which I wasn't). I've picked up a NOS Wico four way joystick for games like Pac Man and the like, just because I'm a stickler for recreating the experience of gaming.the X-Arcade is pretty cool, but micro switches will never give me that leaf-switch button and stick feeling from the 80s. RIght now I'm working on building a MAME machine for my X-Arcade dual stick. I almost bought an Asteroids a year ago, but I was a bit OCD on the condition (it wasn't an original cabinet, but the seller wanted original dollars). I won't even read this whole thread right now, because I just have to say I LOVE ARCADE MACHINES.all retro gaming, really. Shamefully I have not tried it yet myself as I don't have a supergun and my 1942 isn't jamma. The GNG I believe was converted from a SF2T Hyper Fighting, but I don't know for certain. It looks like it was last used as converted NEO GEO as it has the usual 4-button layout and a samurai showdown move list under the plexi-glass console. I'm in Ontario, but the Gauntlet cabinet was mutilated, whomever owned it last painted the exterior blue the only remnants of Gauntlet are the Atari logo bezel and small plaque on the inside identifying it as a Gauntlet cabinet by Atari. I'm hoping that fixes the issue it has when you turn it on the screen collapses to a horizontal white line. I have yet to determine if its a rom issue (to lazy to burn a set) or if its a logic ic issue (Still haven't bothered to purchases a logic probe).įor the NEO cab, right now my bro is working to get the caps replaced on the monitor mobo. Do you know what it was converted from? I have one that is having a sprite issue. Implying your willing to sell and are close enough. Which Gauntlet? Also what province are you in?
